Lab Manager

As a lab manager, you will play a critical role in supporting the smooth operation of our laboratory.  You will work in a highly dynamic research and development environment and will collaborate with scientists, information & technology, and facilities.  You will be responsible to ensure that the team has what they need to succeed including equipment, reagents, and consumables.


This position will report to a Director, Scientific Operations, and work onsite at our research facility in Lawrence, Kansas

Specific activities will include:

  • Responsible the process for procurement, storage, organization, inventory, and replenishment of research consumables.

  • Responsible equipment maintenance, calibration, and repair: coordinate with research and facility personnel to schedule service contracts, repairs, calibrations, certifications, and preventative maintenance.

  • Maintain and organize chemical inventory.

  • Maintain and organize fridge and freezer storage in biology lab.

  • Order/change Cryotanks, liquid nitrogen and CO2 tanks.

  • Schedule training on laboratory equipment, software, etc.

  • Edit and organize protocols and laboratory documents.

  • Fulfill other tasks as directed by the manager to assist research teams with relevant
    site needs.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in science related field +1-3-year experience (or equivalent) in a lab technician, lab operations or lab management role. Experience in a similar role in industry or academia is preferred.

  • Knowledge of lab safety and OSHA regulations and safety training.

  • Experience with procurement of lab common supplies, lab inventory management
    system, and working with external vendors and CROs is preferred.

  • Exceptional organization skills, with a demonstrated ability to multi-task to enable many concurrent projects in a complex, fast paced environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability and willingness to work closely with other colleagues as a team, openness to new ideas.

  • Motivated individual and willingness to take initiative.
