Title: Lab Technician, Biology
Location: Lawrence, KS
Status: 12 month contract, onsite, Monday through Friday
Hourly rate: $25-$30 an hour DOE
The Lab tech will support in screening compounds for small molecule identification. Work in a research and development environment and will collaborate with scientists, information & technology, and facilities. Responsible for ensuring the project team has the data needed to inform the program’s forward motion.
Daily responsibilities:
- Responsible for the process for procurement, storage, organization, inventory, and replenishment of research consumables as needed.
- Responsible for cell culture maintenance, preparing and storing frozen cellular stocks, incubator decontaminations, and routine mycoplasma testing.
- Responsible for timely turn around of previously developed biology based high-throughput screening assays for small-molecules.
- Responsible for QC and upload of data to internal software and notebook maintenance.
- Participation in biweekly group meetings to keep up to date on program priorities.
- Responsible for assay validation protocols.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in science related field +2-5-years’ experience (or equivalent) as a lab technician. Experience in a similar role in industry or academia is preferred.
- Familiar with biological assays. i.e. ELISA, HTRF, AlphaLISA, NanoBRET, Cell proliferation, Western Blot, etc.
- Knowledge of lab safety and OSHA regulations and safety training.
- Experience with procurement of lab common supplies, lab inventory management
- system, and working with external vendors and CROs is preferred.
- Exceptional organization skills, with a demonstrated ability to multi-task to enable many concurrent projects in a complex, fast paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability and willingness to work closely with other colleagues as a team, openness to new ideas.
