Position Summary:  The Senior Manager, People Systems Optimization will oversee the Workday HCM product roadmap. Clayton is early in its Workday HCM journey with a significant opportunity to adopt capabilities beyond what was delivered during the initial deployment. This position works closely with stakeholders across multiple business units within the enterprise to establish and support the strategy to deploy new Workday HCM capabilities.
Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership for the People Systems Optimization team and actively mentor those team members in developing their skills.
  • Develop, manage, and oversee the Workday functionality deployment roadmap across the enterprise.
  • Own the portfolio of work for the Platform Optimization Team. Promote a culture of on-time and quality delivery of projects across stakeholder groups.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new Workday HCM functionality that helps automate, build efficiencies, enable self-service, and eliminate manual processes.
  • Provide strategic direction for the Workday HCM platform in collaboration with leadership from People Operations, Technology, and Human Resources.
  • Provide strategic direction for the People Systems Platform Optimization Team, including identifying the optimal resource mix and annual roadmap.
  • Set processes and procedures to ensure efficient and effective support of Workday HCM and other people systems. Identify quality and efficiency metrics to calculate and validate the results of the Team’s performance.
  • Deploy and maintain best-practice End-to-End management of the Workday Release cycle.
  • Accountable for platform, data, and security governance. This includes establishing guidelines and standards for the configuration of Workday.
  • Accountable for enterprise Workday HCM platform administration training and knowledge management.
  • Network and engage with HRIS peers, industry groups, and other resources to stay well-informed of trends to help Clayton innovate around its use of HR technology.
  • Network and engage with internal HR and Technology peers to stay well-informed of their priorities and to support building strong relationships.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical and business experience.
  • 5+ years of Workday HCM configuration and reporting experience in at least three modules.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in People Systems / HRIS.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
    •  Ability to interact with diverse team members, including executives, managers, IT professionals, and subject matter experts.
    • Must be able to explain technical concepts in non-technical language.
  • Proven experience supporting complex business applications, processes, and projects as an individual contributor, having strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent and proven stakeholder management abilities. Skilled at collaborating with others to reach alignment across a decentralized organization.
  • Proven experience leading projects with proficiency in process mapping, group facilitation, data gathering and analysis, and phases of the project life cycle (discovery, design, development, deployment, training, and evaluation).
  • Strong ability to work effectively within time constraints, changing priorities, and independently.
  • Proven experience with Agile methodology, including leading scrum activities such as sprint planning, prioritization, and retrospectives.
  • Extensive Workday HCM configuration experience.
  • Desire to build consumer-like digital experiences in Workday for our Team Members.
  • Possess a strong understanding of Human Resource strategies and the technologies that enable them.

Physical Demands:
 
  • Must be able to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as telephone, calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc.
  • Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, and in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information with others.
  • Primarily works in an indoor, temperature-controlled, sealed-window office environment. Work will occasionally be performed in a manufacturing environment where there may be exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Work primarily involves sitting / standing.
